THANK YOU!

There are just a few people in my life, and not really in my life, that I'd like to thank for the really, really nice things they have done for me and my family this week! First off, to Mike...thanks for coming home safely and then watching Ethan so I could go to young women's Tuesday night. A HUGE THANKS to Matt Hackney in Virginia, who may never read this, but who did the right thing and proved that there really are good people out there. Thank you so, so much to Tina for a wonderful baby shower and lots of fun stuff and good food. More thanks to all those who came and brought cute stuff for my baby girl. And Heidi, who let us use her backyard shade at the last minute, thanks! Thanks to Mom for taking us to lunch on her birthday, I really had cash for your lunch, I really did. Lastly, thanks to my parents for getting tickets to the temple open house and taking us all. I know it was a great experience for my family, especially Ethan who has never been inside the temple before but now has even more to look forward to.
THANKS!

What a great way to spend a night

While Mike was gone and I needed time to unwind from my day, I turned on the TV and saw that this was coming on. I've seen it before and laughed. I really like the show.
I've seen Gene perform on stage and I think I like this Gene the best. However, I still love to hear him sing!

An ode to Mike, by Ethan

Yesterday we went to my parents' and sister's ward for church because Mike is out of town for the weekend. Ethan was given some questions about his dad and I thought they were so funny and cute that I should share them-here goes...

My dad is great because...he plays with me
I like it when my dad...plays ninja turtles
My dad can do many things. I think he's best at...walking
My dad loves to laugh. I like to make him happy by...doing anything
My dad is smart. He even knows...how to lift up heavy things

Ethan really loves his dad and has missed him while he's been gone. When he hears a car pull up outside our house or a car door slam, he runs to the window to see if it's Mike. When I fix dinner and tell him it's dinner time, he will, again, run to the window and say he's going to look for dad to come home. (That is one of our daily things we do about 5.) Hurry home, Mike. We miss you and love you.
Happy, belated, Father's Day!

Three more weeks

I am really looking forward to seeing if she really looks like this! I'm sure she'll be much cuter and I can't wait to see if she has curly hair like her dad, a dimple on her right cheek like her brother and Grandma Herrington, or triangle nostrils like me and Ethan. Most of all, I can't wait to meet her and see if she is an Emma or an Addie!

My silly boy

Today at church I asked Ethan if he could stick his tongue out and touch his nose. This is what he did...

The good, the bad, and the ugly

The good
Ethan is such a good sleeper. This kid will go right to sleep when I put him to bed and has for over 3 years now. There was a little while where he was just barely into his big boy bed that he decided he'd climb out of bed just because he could. But now, it doesn't matter when I put him to bed at 8 (the time I shoot for for bed time) or 8:30 (the time it usually is when he goes to bed), he is out like a light FAST! I am hoping that his good sleeping habits rub off on his baby sister.

The bad
Did you know that when you reach 35 weeks prego that everything is uncomfortable. I don't remember this when I was pregnant with Ethan. I just can't get comfortable. At night in bed, during the day sitting, even with my feet propped up, I just can't get comfy! Even when I am so tired from my day, I just can't get into a position that I can fall asleep! It's really hard to try to get out of bed to pee too. I sometimes feel like I should nudge Mike and ask him to push me out of bed. I'm not sure I can get him awake though. Ethan must get his good sleeping from his dad.

The ugly
Not much fits me anymore. Not even my underwear! And I keep thinking, "Do I really need to run to the distribution center to get new underwear that will fit for only 4 more weeks?" My answer, suprisingly, is, "NO!" I have a few maternity stuff that is huge, thanks to my friends and family, so if you see me in the next 4 weeks and I look funny, just remember, I just don't care that much anymore!

Look what I found!

Yup, a huge, gigantic dragonfly! I have never seen one this big. It startled me a little and Ethan was very concerned that he was getting too close to it while he was helping me pick up the backyard toys. But when Mike came home for lunch, Ethan wanted to tell him all about it.

CRASH

Yesterday we were at my parents' house for Sunday dinner and before dinner Ethan was outside playing with Mattison, Isabel, Meg and a few neighborhood boys. When dinner was ready, he went running, or so I think, I wasn't there but I know Ethan. He must have tripped on his shoe or a bump in the sidewalk because I heard him come into the house, being carried by Mike, crying and screaming. I knew that was a cry of "I'm hurt" not "Quit bugging me, Meg!" I went to see what was wrong and he had blood on his face and Mike had blood on his hand (from carrying Ethan, Mike was outside too but you all know how hard it is to stop a kid from falling). All Ethan wanted was a cold washcloth to suck on and some purple medicine (children's tylenol). As soon as he got the purple medicine, he said, "But it still hurts!" We tried to explain that it will take just a few minutes to feel better. I held him for a few minutes and then it was back off to the races. After a pudding cup though. (I figured he would like something nice and soft.) About an hour later, he was back in the house because he was climbing and playing in Mom and Dad's new cool swingset and he hit his head. Luckily there was no damage there. This morning, he has a fat upper lip, looking kind of like a monkey, and he won't eat. It's after 11 and he's only had a bite or two of applesauce. He did some damage to some teeth too. Poor kid! His two front teeth are jagged and look bad. Hopefully, they will feel better soon and after eating normal foods again they will not be so jagged! And I am really hoping that there isn't any lasting damage to his mouth or teeth!

Diggers and ice cream

Last weekend some friends of ours invited us to Park City to play. They have a time share at a Marriott resort and we had a lot of fun. There is a cool park just down the hill from the resort and we went to play. When we saw the diggers in the sand box, we knew Ethan would have to try them out. Here he is diggin' in the sand. He had to have some help from Mike at first, but he quickly caught on and was able to do it all by himself! My grandpa recently moved from Orem back to Idaho and on one of his last days, we went to visit and say good bye! After visiting with Grandpa, my parents took the grandkids to Hogi Yogi for some ice cream! Ethan loves hanging out with Kristen's girls and I think they like him too, most of the time. He isn't a HUGE ice cream eater, go figure, so when his ice cream was melting and getting all gooey, Mattison and Isabel, thinking of not letting good ice crem go to waste, told Ethan, "Hey look over there!" And when he did, they snitched some of his ice cream. He didn't know any different and I thought it was so funny I just had to snap a picture!
Thanks girls! You really do look out for the best interest of Ethan, don't you?
