Mike DID have a first

I originally said that Mike didn't have anything new happen to him, but I was wrong!
He found his first gray hair last week. Here I am almost 30 and not a gray in sight!
Ha ha ha ha ha!

A few firsts

The last couple of weeks have been full of a few firsts for me, Ethan, and Emma. (Mike is great, just not really doing much "new"!)
Ethan and I made a craft from Family Fun. It was easy and fun. Here he is with the finished product.
All you do is make ice and add color to it. Let those freeze. Fill an 8 inch cake panwith water and put a plastic cup filled with water at the edge, freeze for an hour. Add the ice and let it freeze the rest of the way. Hang up outside. The directions say to use light colors so the sun can shine through, but Ethan wanted dark colors. I think it turned out pretty cool though.
I went on my first field trip of the year with the kids. We went to free day at the zoo with a couple of my cousins and thier kids. It was the first time Emma had ever been to the zoo. She was so good the whole time.
My favorite part of the zoo was when we were in the monkey house and a baby gorilla came up to the glass and looked right at Emma. By the time I realized what was happening and got my camera out, the camera shy little guy was running away.
The first time Ethan went to the zoo, he was so afraid of the big elephant statue. This time, he climbed right on up to the trunk.
I took snacks for all the kids to eat, frosted animal crakers, what else? And this was Emma's first taste of one.
I think she liked it.
I tried to give Emma some apple juice a month or so ago and she hated it! Maybe I added too much water. I tried giving it to her again, this time with less water and she loved it!
There were a few more firsts for Emma too.
After going to the doctor for her 6 month check up she has been eating lots of new foods. The american pediatric association changed their feeding guidelines. I was told that I could give her eggs, wheat, and meats NOW! My doctor told me to make a peanutbutter sandwich and "break it up like the sacrament" and give it to her. She loves peanutbutter. Must get that from Mike. (I used to until I was pregnant with her!) She likes the turkey sticks that I've given her and I am excited because I now have more foods in my house that she can eat and I won't have to buy as much baby food as often!!

This is the bridge that Mike and Ethan built

We don't have church until 1 and Sundays mornings seem very long. So what do we do on a Sunday morning?
Ethan wanted to build with blocks. He assisted Mike in building a bridge.
Pretty cool I have to say.
Here's the top view.
And a side view with cars coming down.
Hmmm, what to do next Sunday?

Nerdy boy

The other night after Ethan had his jammies on Mike pulled his jammie pants way up, just like Steve Urkel. I thought it was so funny but my camera batteries were way low and I wasn't sure I'd be able to get a picutre. Well, I must have needed these pictures to torture Ethan later in life so here they are.
Nerdy.
But not nerdy enough so I gave him my glasses to put on.
Much better.

A dancing conversation

A conversation between me and Ethan this morning:
Me: Ethan go to the bathroom.
Ethan: I don't have to go to the bathroom.
Me: Yes you do. You're dancing.
Ethan: I'm pretty dancing for you, Mom!

(Mike and I laughing so hard we had to go to the bathroom!)

6 months

6 months ago I was in the hospital with my brand new baby girl! I can't believe it's been 6 months already. She's getting so big. Here are a few things that she's been up to today, her half birthday!
She is learning to sit up and does very will with a little help from my boppy.
Oh and she's very smiley too!
She pushes herself way up high when she's on her tummy, which she likes just fine, now. I couldn't get a picture of her on just her belly, it's funny to see. She'll lift her legs so she's just on her belly, I love it. She is also into some yoga too, just like me and Ethan. When she's on her back, she will pull her legs up so just her feet are on the ground and lift her bum. That move makes me laugh every time.
Emma had her first biter biscuit today. I know according to the box she's still too young, but my kids are advanced and do things a lot sooner than the boxes say they should! :)
She LOVED that biter biscuit.
The only bad thing about biter biscuits is that they are MESSY!!
Check out that face...
When it was gone the yells and tears showed up...I did get a picture of that!

"WAAAAHHHH!"

Yoga

I found a yoga for kids on my on demand stuff. And while Emma was napping this afternoon, Ethan did yoga!
Here are a few of his moves.

Now he wants to do more so I'm off to yoga with Ethan!

Just the same

While we were in Minnesota for Christmas staying with Mike's brother and his family, they had a new exersaucer they set up for Emma to play in. She loved it, until all the older cousins came to play with her, she just wanted to be left alone to play.
Doesn't she look like she's having fun? I kept thinking that this one is so cool and mine is old and missing pieces (but it was free, thanks, Kristen) so I need a new one. When we got hom, I got it out of storage and cleaned it up and put Emma in it.
I think she likes it just the same, don't you?

New year's resolution

I've made some new year's resolutions this year, and I'm pretty sure that they won't be broken by the end of the month.
All because they revolve around these two.

*More time with them
*Field trips once a month
*Dates with Ethan...dates with Emma will come when she's a little older
*More story time
*More patience with them
*All around more fun!!
And if I get around to toning my arms, toning my baby belly, losing all the baby weight and then some, keeping my house clean, etc. then I'll consider myself lucky, but if I don't, I'll still have more time with my kids and I'll be the mommy I want to be.
