Similarities

Ethan and Emma are quite a bit a like.
I have been noticing more every day but here are a few that I wanted to write down so I can remember them.
(ahhh, cute picture of my 2 E's)
*When Ethan was Emma's age he grabbed my chapsick, pulled the lid off and ate what he could. Emma does the same thing. I have started to twist the chapstick all the way down when it's being stored.
*They both LOVE animals!
*They both go to bed at 8! They are ready and need the sleep cause they go right to sleep!
*They both love, love, love books and reading! When Ethan was a year old and would get up in the mornings, he'd grab books and we'd read for half an hour before I'd pry him away so he would eat breakfast. He's still this way.
Emma yells if Ethan is being read to and will only calm down if she is brought up on the lap or next to the reader!
*Being outside=happy kids!!
*DAD! They love it when Dad comes home. They run, Emma as fast as she can go, to the door when the key is inserted in the lock and it turns. Emma brought me the dad from her little people's doll house the other day when Mike was running later than usual and handed it to me. I like to think she was asking about her dad.
*Ugh...at a year both Ethan and Emma pull on my pants, almost pulling them off, while I'm cooking dinner.
*Bath time is the BEST time of the night! Always has been, at least since Emma's umbilical cord stub came off.
*They both will eat Eggo mini pancakes for breakfast every day! Emma will only eat these and it's not been very long since I got Ethan to branch out a little and eat other foods!
*They both, at Emma's age, played and play in the same drawer in my parents' kitchen. The one with the mixing bowls in it. It used to have my mom's glass pie plate in it, one she got for a wedding present, until Ethan broke it 4 years ago! (Still sorry Mom!) Luckily, Emma hasn't broken anything...yet!
*They both have their favorite blanket that has to go everywhere, within reason, with them. Ethan sleeps with it, drags it into the living room in the morning, downstairs to watch tv, and if we go on a trip, you bet it comes too. (Thanks Janae for the awesome "star blanket") Emma has her favorite "fuzzy" blankets. It's a good thing she has 2! They too get dragged EVERYwhere! Church included, just in case she decides to go to sleep--ha ha! yeah right! She rubs it on or under her nose when she is tired. (Thanks to Hiedi and Kylee for the awesome blankets)
I can't wait to see how many more similarities there are that havn't been uncovered yet!!

Road trip

We took Emma on her first road trip two weeks ago. It was just days before her 1st birthday and I figured she was old enough and big enough to be turned around in her car seat. (I knew she'd enjoy the 3 hour drive to Blackfoot, ID better that way too!)
Doesn't she look happy?
Had to get one of this happy boy too.
Very excited kids Unfortunately, that excitement didn't last long so I had to pull out the dvd player (thanks Mom!)

Then it was snack time just before the UT/ID border
Mike had pretzels
And decided to be a walrus to keep the kids entertained.
That didn't last long either but thank goodness I found some suckers the day before we left so I handed those to the kids to keep them happy.
This one was a MESS by the time we got to the hotel. Oh well she was happy for a few minutes.
This one, on the other hand, was not so messy!

Green beans

We had green beans with dinner last night and guess who liked them?
Yes or no?
(hint...the ONE I gave him is still on his plate, he later pawned it off to Mike)
Yes or no?
(hint...the bunch I gave her are all over her bib and her face)
Mmmmm, she loved them.
I like green beans okay, but Mike really likes them.
More proof that Emma's a Daddy's girl!

As promised...

We went bowling as a family a few weeks ago for FHE. We love the Wii bowling and Ethan really wanted to go to the "bowling stadium" and bowl. It was fun. We haven't been in almost 5 years!! We quickly realized that Wii bowling is easier and we really need to practice bowling at the "bowling stadium"
And as promised, here are our feet...
Karen
(hot socks huh?)

Mike
Ethan
Emma didn't bowl so she didn't need shoes!

Ethan's first time throwing the ball. Then we got this for him so he would have an easier time
Emma thought my socks were cool....after bowling even! yuck
The final scores

Stryker: 62

Shirley: 72

T-Rex: 74

The morning after...

I survived, my kitchen floor didn't, but I did. I'll tackle the floor after Emma goes down for her nap. Toys are still being played with and loved. The kids were so excited to get up and play with them. They woke up just after 7-very unusual for my kids! It was a great night with family and friends and I had fun! Here are a few pictures from the party!
Emma on her birthday in her birthday girl shirt!
(she looks so old)
So excited to be 1
Here's her cake. I'm not a great cake decorator and I don't really care to be. I have decided that maybe I should get ice cream cakes from Cold Stone for my kids on their birthdays from now on...
Here's the birthday girl opening presents with Daddy.
She had so much fun opening presents and playing with her new toys that when it was time for cake she was very angry...
Still angry and not wanting to blow her candle out, we practiced all day and ishe wouldn't do it!
Not knowing what to do with the cake until...
Dad stepped in to feed it to her
Finally getting that she likes it and that it's okay to eat it all by herself.
"cheese"
She ate her whole piece. Getting quite the appetite as she ages.
All gone and no more...too many loved ones wishing her a happy birthday.
After cake, Emma got to hop back into playing withe her toys and she was happy again!
Best present of all...the couch, at least in Ethan's eyes. Now she won't push him off of his while we have our jammie parties. She'll have her very own!
What little girl doesn't want a little people's doll house?
I just had to get her one!
Thanks to everyone who came or sent happy thoughts to our birthday girl!

Happy birthday Emma

My baby is 1 today!
Here are a few fun pictures of her as she has gotten closer to today.
Bat Emma
Oooo, cold water
The water was so cold so sat in the sun swinging
A few weeks ago we went bowling as a family and this is what Emma's feet looked like
So cute
(pictures of the rest of the family's feet to come soon...)

fun, fun, fun

(There are two posts on here for Tuesday and Wednesday. We aren't going to be around to post Wednesdays so here are the next two days' posts)
(Wednesday)
Just hanging out on a random, boring Monday afternoon
Had to kiss those cheeks
Again with the feet in the air
Ethan says she looks like Mary
Emma loves the piano
She really gets angry when I don't pull her up to the piano when I'm playing-so funny!

Randomness of Emma

(Tuesday)
Love how wiggly Emma is even in her bouncy
This is really how she sleeps
I've caught Ethan sleeping like this and I know just where they get it. Not from me!
While in Minnesota for Christmas, we went to the Macy's display and I had to get a picture of me and my girl
Emma and her first doll she got for Christmas.
She smiled the biggest smile I had seen up to that point when she saw her doll for the first time.
Wish I'd have been able to get a picture of that!

Happy Daddy's girl!

A happy hello from Emma on her first Halloween!
VERY much a Daddy's girl!
See what I mean?
Relaxing on Dad
Happy happy girl!
I just love her!
