The dentist and the elephant

Ethan went to the dentist for the first time yesterday. He was so excited to go. He wanted to take his toothpaste to show the dentist. And he wanted to show the dentist his sunglasses.
He did a GREAT job. He held very still for his x-rays and opened his mouth really big for his teeth cleaning. He didn't have any cavities and got a sticky hand from the prize wall. He also came away with new toothpaste, some floss, and a Woody (from Toy Story) toothbrush.
He can't wait to go back to the dentist. This morning he asked if he could go back tomorrow! He does have to go back, and I'll post about that later, in 5 weeks!
Just look and those teeth!
So proud of his no cavity smile!
Emma has been making noises when we play with the duplo legos and find the elephant. In my opinion, she's making an elephant noise and here is the video.
(It's really close to the end and you do have to listen closely because Ethan likes to make the elephant's noise too!)

It's May not December

Wait...wasn't my last post all about playing outside in the sun and warm spring weather?
This is what I woke up to this morning.
At least the kids enjoyed it.
And our beautiful, freshly cut backyard.
I love how in the very back, you can still see grass.
And my car...
And lastly...
some thoughts that have been running through my head all morning
*I thought it was safe to put the snow shovel and rock salt away.
*I just planted my flowers, will they all be okay?
*Oh no, the sprinklers came on in the middle of the night, did we bust a water pipe?
*What about the water pipes connected to my hoses, are they okay?
*Mmmm, hot chocolate sounds good for breakfast.
*And popcorn for a snack later today.
*Maybe the kids and I should have a movie day all day today.
*What do I want to make for dinner?
* Why oh why?
*Please bring spring back!

Play time and snack time

We've been playing outside a lot this week.
Emma really likes the chalk...
Ethan asked me to make him a hopscotch.
He does a pretty good job.
We found a big spoon next to the drive way. Perfect for Ethan to dig in the sandbox with.
Like I said, Emma likes the chalk, but I'm not sure she's using it right.
After playing in the chalk for a while, this is what her hind end looks like.
And her cute face.
I swear I feed her snacks and here's proof...
Mmmm, Oreos!
All she needs is a an glass of ice cold milk to dip it in...

10 inventions that have made my life easier
*Some of you may laugh at these, they tell my age, but some of you will agree because you are my age!*
1. The internet-ie emails and blogs.
2. Infant car seat-ours is used at church for those rare times that Emma falls asleep.
3. Disposable diapers-how did you do it Mom? I hated washing dirty underwear out when Ethan was potty training.
4. Baby wipes. I use them all the time not just for messy diapers but dirty hands and to clean my feet off in the summer when I don't want to wash them off in the bathtub after wearing flip flops all day, or no shoes at all.
5. DVR-we never watch live TV anymore.
6. Netflix-so that I can catch up on all those past seasons of shows that I love.
7. Central air--Ahhh (I still don't understand how the family we bought our house from just used the sad, broken ceiling fans and the sad broken swamp cooler in the basement to survive all summer-we bought our house from them in July!)
8. My digital camera
9. My digital picture frame that I can display all those great pictures I take without all those frames.
10. Air planes-otherwise we wouldn't go to Mike's family-there is NO way I will drive 2 full days in a car with MY kids! They'd never last, I wouldn't either!

Oh well...

I just wanted a picture of me and the kids on Mother's Day.
They looked so cute
Here's what Mike caught on camera...
What is Ethan doing and why is Emma glaring at her favorite guy in the whole world?
Why are you hiding, Ethan?
Hiding even more...
Getting restless, I guess

Not the best picture of these two, but the best we got

Oh well...there's always the picture of the kids with Mike on Father's Day

Half Marathon

Mike ran his first half marathon last week and this was a great picture that was caught by one of the photographers.
Mike saw the guy and posed for it.
He finished in 2 hours and 8 minutes, much better than I could have done.
Now it's on to train for the next big run!

The Living Planet Aquarium

We headed to see the fish etc at the Living Planet Aquarium in Sandy last week. Ethan has been begging to go since he saw an episode of Team Umizoomi where they went to the aquarium to fix the tank where the sea horses lived.
I think Ethan had a good time from the word "go"
Not the best picture but he's pointing out what he likes, I guess.
Here he is with a penguin his own size.
Emma really enjoyed herself too.
Mezmerized by the fish
and not so afraid of the sharks.
Of course Ethan found the pirate ship's steering wheel and just had to pretend to bea pirate, complete with the "ARG!"
Hanging out on the big frog.
(I remember when he wouldn't even go close to these big statues now he's climbing on em!)
And lastly, Emma trying to touch the fish.

10 on Tuesday

My mom has been doing this for a few weeks and I thought I'd join in, for this week at least...
10 things I learned from my mother
1. To clean my house a little each day to avoid cleaning the whole thing in one day!
2. How to make a bed...some people I know need to learn this one (no names mentioned)
3. How to be a good mom
4. To take my kids to church, even when I don't get anything from the meetings
5. How to iron a dress shirt, this has come in handy for Mike's shirts he wears to work!
6. How to sew...this is still a work in progress
7. How to cross stitch aka how to relieve stress
8. How to cook, I'm sure Mike is grateful for this one
9. Chinese food isn't all bad
10. It doesn't matter what song you sing to your child and make one up if you have to.
Happy Mothers' Day, Mom!
I love you!

Bye bye job #2

Mike has officially worked his last night at
There are a few things that I will miss but more that I won't miss.
I will NOT miss
*Rushing through dinner so that I can clean it up while the kids play after Mike leaves the house.
*Eating dinner at 5
*Making sure dinner is ready and on the table at 5 so when Mike gets home from job #1 he can eat and run
*That nasty smell of pizza. On him, on his clothes, in my coat closet, in the car...I think you get that I won't miss the smell of pizza. It used to not bother me until I got pregnant with Emma a year and a half ago. I can't be around the smell or the pizza any more.
*And then there is this... This is how I have felt for the last 9 months every night Mike works. Those nights are AWFUL! I will NOT miss those stressful nights.
There are 2 things that I will miss however
*Jammie party with just me and the kids. I think this was the way that I would cope with the stress and try not to worry about keeping the kids occupied. We put on our jammies at 6 and watch a movie while eating treats.
*And THIS...
Oh, how I will miss the cinnapie that Mike would bring home, for FREE, after his shift. We would enjoy it while enjoying either our latest Netflix or the newest on the dvr.

I am very grateful to have a husband that is willing and able to get a second job so we can have what we need sot that I don't have to leave the kids and go to work, but I am even more grateful for that coming to an end...
BYE BYE PAPA JOHN'S!
